Default In need of some Technical Analysis on ANF

Hey guys i'm new here and am trying to get into my college's mutual fund. In order to get into the fund we have to do a Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) valuation of Abercrombie and Fitch (ANF) which i've done. I got my intrinsic value at around $70 and am pitching a sell. I know the basics of technical analysis, but this company seems to be trading sideways. I would really appreciate it if someone could post ANF's chart for the past year or few years and analyze it for me. It would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

-Allen

First off i must say ANF is not the most technical friendly stock. When looking at a daily chart is has no defined trend and is as about as sloppy as you can get, as a technical trader i would stay away from this stock in general. What i did is looked as some longer term charts, First you see a monthly chart. This chart shows a strong long term uptrend with the stock sitting right at a trendline, this is bullishyet we have bearish divergence in the RSI. Then you see a weekly chart, I see a rounded top with the most recent tops being lower highs, this is a bearish signal. If i had to take a side on this stock it would be the sell side in anticipation that our longer term uptrend will be broken down, I think the weekly chart is indicating this. I think this is possibly the start of a longer term down trend in this stock. Hope that helps.

I was gonna chime in, but Cire sees the same thing I do. Great work Cire, nice to know I'm in good company on the TA here.

See Blac...I told you Cire was badass.

Sometimes stocks are like Buffaloes, they move in herds. Mmmm Buffalos. It helps to look at the whole sector and micro-sector. Retailers being the sector and mid-cap dual sex-youth oriented retailers being the micro-sector.

URBN, ANF, and AEO are the one Doodi would look at as a group and individually.

Now heres a chart of Abercrombie and Urban Outfitters. You see Mister Buffalo nicely climbing to the top but something is blocking ANF from doing the same. FYI, a bunch of Iroquoi indians were looking for that buffalo. Very sneaky that one. Watch out for that little valley there.

LMFAO!!!!

Glad you put it on the smf site...I rolled when I saw it on the vbulletin one and was gonna copy it over but then you wouldn't have gotten street cred for the work.
